About The Author
Shanai Byrd was born in 1987 to teenage parents. Growing up in an urban neighborhood in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania inspired many of Shanai's passions and desire to serve the youth. Shanai attained a Bachelor of Arts from Johnson C. Smith University and a Master of Education from Strayer University, and she uses her education to inspire others to reach for their goals despite their situation.
Who Am I ?
With the help of her flagship non-profit organization, "Who Am I?" she educates the youth on how to persevere and overcome dire circumstances by using the arts such as Poetry, Theatre, Painting, Dance and Music. Shanai is a strong advocate on expressing yourself in many ways. As a life coach, health and wellness enthusiast and business owner, Shanai is just getting started on her legacy.
Byrds Of A Feather
Shanai's passion for uplifting the youth will always hold a major importance in her life. She aims to encourage youth and adults to soar and take flight through her life coaching program, "Byrds Of A Feather." Shanai became a published author in June 2020, releasing her first novel, Dear Me ... Letters to My Younger Self. Through her experiences of working within the nonprofit sector since 2012, five years of teaching at Sugar Creek Charter School, and managing early childhood development centers, many connections have been established with the youth in Charlotte and surrounding areas.
Shanai believes in educating our youth on important topics that are not always discussed in the classroom. She will continue to focus on the youth by uplifting, educating, and providing guidance through her books and experience. Shanai resides In Charlotte, North Carolina with her husband and their two children.
